Meghan Markle’s gestures in the latest trailer from her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey hint at ‘hidden anger and frustration’, a body language expert has claimed

Body language expert Judi James said the former Suits star’s head-shakes, raised brows and accelerated blink-rate all ‘imply deeper inner emotions including anger or frustration’ and ‘a story as yet un-shared’.

‘Her description of how her adult, independent life met with a “construct” that was “different” suggests she is using non-dramatic and non-accusatory words here, but the way she throws out her hands in what looks like a gesture of relief and a desire for agreement as she speaks about being able to speak for herself now is still a dramatic moment celebrating her current freedom,’ she told FEMAIL.

‘Meghan’s small leg-rocking gesture suggests she is enjoying herself though, as does the smiles and giggles.

‘Her words take a long time to come, there is even a six second pause before she tries to explain “Why now?”‘

Judi added that while the trailer suggests Meghan may be softening her wording as she drops hints about her problems with royal life, her body language and use of dramatic pauses imply ‘enough rich narrative to keep everyone on the edges of their seat’.

Meghan and Oprah’s discussion confirms that the host – who attended the Sussexes’ wedding and now lives near their £11million mansion in Montecito, California – had been wooing the Duchess for a tell-all interview for at least three years.

Meghan said she remembered this talk with Oprah ‘very well’ and ‘wasn’t even allowed to have this conversation with you personally’ because there had to be other people in the same room.

Judi said Meghan’s pose in this snippet suggests more of a happy chat between friends than a formal interview.

‘She sits back in her seat with both hands cradling her baby bump, smiling knowingly, nodding coyly, and even adding to that look of coyness by responding to Oprah’s dramatic gesticulation by performing some hair-preen gestures, dipping her head, looking down and even giggling,’ she observes.

‘The effect achieved is that it is Oprah egging her on to answer her “Why?” line of questioning while Meghan tip-toes her way haltingly through her narrative.’

After playing the latest clip today, CBS presenter Gayle King, who is good friends with Oprah, told the breakfast programme: ‘Listen to those words.

The right and the privilege to be able to speak.

‘I heard Oprah say what was her intention in doing this interview? To give them the opportunity to say in their own words. Because a big question is how did they leave, why did they leave, what happened, did something happen, what is it all about?

To give them the opportunity in their own words to speak their own truth about what went into their decision.

‘I think by the time the interview is over, people will have a very clear understanding about what went into their thought process.

I believe that that will be the case. And then people can make up their own minds.’

Earlier today a Hollywood insider told DailyMail.com that Meghan has now accused the Palace of using Prince Philip’s ill-health as an excuse to ‘muzzle’ her, and insisted she would never ask to delay the release of the interview.

Harry’s grandfather continues to recover from heart surgery at King Edward VII Hospital in London after being transferred there today following his operation at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

The Queen has continued working while her 99-year-old husband has been in hospital – including encouraging people to get the Covid-19 vaccine, holding phone calls with Armed Forces chiefs and virtually unveiling a new statue of herself in Australia.

And today it was reported Prince William and Kate had a videocall with the parents of a boy helped by a mental health text helpline that they are supporting.

It comes as a palace insider claimed last night that Meghan blamed the Duchess of Cambridge, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles for leaking negative stories about her to the Press when she was a senior royal.

The Sussexes felt the stories – including Kate allegedly being left in tears after a bridesmaids’ dress fitting before Meghan’s wedding in 2018 – must have been briefed by Kate, Camilla or Charles’s households, the source said.

These revelations came just days after Meghan was accused of ‘driving out’ two PAs and shattering the confidence of another member of palace staff – with one former aide branding Prince Harry and his wife ‘outrageous bullies’.

Meghan has vehemently denied the claims, instead insisting The Times newspaper, which first ran the claims after reportedly being contacted by palace aides, was ‘being used by Buckingham Palace to peddle a wholly false narrative’ about her.

The palace said it would launch an unprecedented inquiry into the allegations – calling claims that the Meghan inflicted ’emotional cruelty’ on underlings ‘very’ concerning.

A group of at least 10 ‘hugely professional’ royal aides who are ‘proud of their efforts’ are ‘queuing up’ to help the palace’s probe, reports suggest.

A source told The Times that the palace were not ‘peddling disinformation or conducting any kind of campaign ahead of the interview’ – with the allegations ‘clearly not […] coming from us’.

CBS will show the full two-hour chat with Oprah on Sunday night at 1am UK time, before ITV broadcasts it the following evening, on Monday, from 9pm.

It will come after the Royal Family in Britain take part in a show of unity for a Commonwealth Day service this Sunday, which will be shown at 5pm on BBC One.
